1978 - Vanessa-Mae Vanakorn Nicholson known professionally as Vanessa-Mae is an internationally known British pop and classical musician, especially noted for her violin skills. Her music style is self-described as "violin techno-acoustic fusion," as several of her albums prominently feature the techno style.

1958 - Simon John Charles Le Bon in Bushey near Watford England U.K , is the lead singer and lyricist of the band Duran Duran and its offshoot, Arcadia.

1939 – John Cleese – English comedian who had appeared in TV series and movies including Fawlty Towers, A Fish Called Wanda, and more recently in P Cleese succeeded Desmond Llewelyn in the role of Q. Cleese first appeared as Q's assistant R in ink Panther 2.The World Is Not Enough, then was bumped up to Q when Llewylyn passed away in 1999.

1975 – Bruce Springsteen is featured on the covers of Time and Newsweek simultaneously – the first rock’n'roller to do so.
1973 – Nutbush City Limits by Ike and Tina Turner entered the Top 40, It was their last ever US hit as a duo though Tina Turner later had a number of solo successes.
1973 – Teen heart throb David Cassidy had a UK number one hit with Daydreamer. It was at Number One for 3 weeks.
1970 - 'Jesus Christ Superstar' LP is released with a presentation at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in New York, with Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber standing at the lectern explaining the music as it fills the church
1962 – Dawn Fraser, an Australian Olympian was the first woman to swim 100m freestyle in under one minute. She held the record for 16 years. Dawn also held 39 world records and was the first swimmer to win the same event in three consecutive Olympics. 1904 - The first subway cars were placed in operation, forming the New York City subway system. The cars operated between the Brooklyn Bridge and Broadway; from City Hall to W. 145th Street. This was the first underwater, underground rail system in the world.
