BIRTHDAYS: 1988 - Angus McLaren - Australian actor who is best known for his roles in the television series Silversun, Packed To The Rafters and H2O: Just Add Water.

1987 - Gemma Ward - At only sixteen, Ward was the youngest model to be listed by American Vogue as one of the nine "It Girls" in the modeling world. She has been in shows for designers such as Prada, Versace, Gucci, Chanel, Valentino, Alexander McQueen, and many more. Ward has also graced magazine covers such as Vogue, W, and TIME Magazine's Style and Design issue.

1957 - Dolf Lundgren - Lundgren's breakthrough came when he starred in Rocky IV in 1985 as the imposing Russian boxer Ivan Drago. Since then, he has starred in more than 40 pictures, all of them in the action film genre. In the 1990s, appeared in films such as Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991), opposite Brandon Lee, Universal Soldier (1992), opposite Jean-Claude Van Damme, Joshua Tree opposite Kristian Alfonso and George Segal, and Johnny Mnemonic (1995) alongside Keanu Reeves. The Defender in 2004 marked Lundgren's directorial debut, following up with films such as The Mechanik (2005), Missionary Man (2007), Command Performance and Icarus in which he also starred. 1954 - Adam Ant - an English musician, who gained popularity as the lead singer of New Wave/post-punk group Adam and the Ants and later as a solo artist, scoring ten UK top ten hits between 1979 and 1983, including three No.1s. Adam was also a star in America where he not only scored a string of hit singles and albums, but was once voted sexiest man in America by the viewers of MTV.. 1948 - Lulu - Scottish singer. She sang the title songs in You Only Live Twice and The Man with the Golden Gun. 1933- John Barry - English film composer, three-time Oscar-winner. He composed scores for several James Bond movies. 1921 - Charles Bronson - is best known for starring in a run of urban crime dramas in the 1970s, including The Mechanic (1972), Mr. Majestyk (1974) and the original Death Wish (1974). Bronson went to Europe to make movies and became an international star; the Italians called him "Il Brutto" and the French called him "le Monstre Sacré." During the 1970s and '80s he was a top box-office draw in the U.S. and Europe, appearing in two or three action movies a year.

Performers at the Lisbon-based bash include Madonna, Gorillaz, Coldplay and Green Day. 1998 - The live Bee Gees album "One Night Only" was released. 1997 – John Denver’s last recording, “The Unplugged Collection,” is released in the U.K. The album features versions of such well-known Denver compositions as “Annie’s Song,Rocky Mountain High, and “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” 1992 - Bill Clinton was elected 42nd President of the United States of America, defeating President George Bush. 1992 - "Keep The Faith", Bon Jovi's first album in 5 years, is released. 1991 - Ayrton Senna wins shortest Formula One race ever run (17 laps). Torrential rain resulted in the race being stopped after 16 of the scheduled 81 laps had been completed. Confusion caused the official results to be declared from the end of the 14th lap. It holds the record for being the shortest Formula One race ever held. The race was on the street circuit in Adelaide, South Australia. 1985 - No. 1 Billboard Pop Hit: ``Take On Me,'' a-ha. The group is the first from Norway to have a No. 1 hit in the United States. 1982 – Devo bring their video-synchronized concert experience to Minneapolis. This involves the band performing in front of a giant screen on which are projected films and lyrics. The robotic band also interacts with the clips.
