Top 10 - MOVIES - ACTION TITLES
A selection of action movies that may or may include your favourite 10. If it doesn't, let me know you Top 10 and I will publish them for you. All in all, a great list of movies here.
10. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
In the lands of Middle Earth, the Dark Lord Sauron forged a Ring of Power to control all the peoples and creatures of Middle Earth. The Ring was taken from him and fell into the hands of Bilbo Baggins, a Hobbit from The Shire - a place of complete innocence. The Ring was then passed onto young Hobbit Frodo Baggins, with one task set before him - to destroy the Ring of Power. Frodo begins his perilous journey through the lands with a Fellowship that will protect him on his mission. Their mission; to destroy the Ring of Power in the only place it can be destroyed - the fires of Mount Doom.
9. Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
The year is 1936. A professor who studies archeology named Inidana Jones is venturing in the jungles in South America searching for a golden statue. Unfortunately, he sets off a deadly trap doing so, miraculously, he escapes. Then, Jones hears from a museum curator named Marcus Brody about a biblical artifact called The Ark of the Covenant, which can hold the key to humanly existence. Jones has to venture to vast places such as Nepal and Egypt to find this artifact. However, he will have to fight his enemy Renee Belloq and a band of Nazis in order to reach it
8. Once Upon a time in the West (1968)
The sprawling railways are reaching the far-west, and somewhere along its way, in a small border town, the paths of the four main characters are going to cross and clash: a young woman looking for a fresh start; an outlaw on the run accused of a crime (this time) he didn't commit; a ruthless killer on the payroll of the railroad tycoon; and a mysterious man with no name who plays a couple of sad chords on a harmonica... and a couple of "Bangs!" on a revolver.
7. Cidade de Deus (2002) Brazil, 1960's
City of God. The Tender Trio robs motels and gas trucks. Younger kids watch and learn well...too well. 1970's: Li'l Zé has prospered very well and owns the city. He causes violence and fear as he wipes out rival gangs without mercy. His best friend Bené is the only one to keep him on the good side of sanity. Rocket has watched these two gain power for years, and he wants no part of it. Yet he keeps getting swept up in the madness. All he wants to do is take pictures. 1980's: Things are out of control between the last two remaining gangs...will it ever end? Welcome to the City of God.
6. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
While Frodo & Sam continue to approach Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring, unaware of the path Gollum is leading them, the former Fellowship aid Rohan & Gondor in a great battle in the Pelennor Fields, Minas Tirith and the Black Gates as Sauron wages his last war against Middle-Earth.
5. Star Wars (1977)
Princess Leia is held hostage by the evil Imperial forces in their effort to take over the Galactic Empire. Venturesome Luke Skywalker and dashing Captain Han Solo team together with the lovable robotic duo, R2-D2 and C-3PO, to rescue the beautiful princess and restore justice in the Empire.
4. Shichinin no samurai (1954)
A veteran samurai, who has fallen on hard times, answers a village's request for protection from bandits. He gathers 6 other samurai to help him, and they teach the townspeople how to defend themselves, and they supply the samurai with three small meals a day. The film culminates in a giant battle when 40 bandits attack the village.
3. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
In this "Star Wars" sequel, the battle to save the galaxy from the evil Darth Vader rages on. Han Solo, Princess Leia and Chewbacca are tested in a devastating attack by the Imperial army and its AT-AT Walkers. Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker (seeks out the ancient Yoda to learn the secrets of the Jedi . . . secrets Luke will need when the Dark Side of the Force beckons him in a destiny-defining duel with Darth Vader
2. The Dark Knight (2008)
Batman raises the stakes in his bourgeoiswar on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker.
1. Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo. (1966)
The Good is Blondie, a wandering gunman with a strong personal sense of honor. The Bad is Angel Eyes, a sadistic hitman who always hits his mark. The Ugly is Tuco, a Mexican bandit who's always only looking out for himself. Against the backdrop of the Civil War, they search for a fortune in gold buried in a graveyard. Each knows only a portion of the gold's exact location, so for the moment they're dependent on each other. However, none are particularly inclined to share.
