Edward Scissorhands: The Stage Adaptation, a new play version of Tim Burton's 1990 gothic film fantasy about a Frankenstein-style outsider with dangerous digits, will get its world premiere by The Brooklyn Studio Lab June 25-July 3 in the US.

Film director Tim Burton is aware of the production and is allowing it to be explored in this limited test production directed by U.K. stage director Richard Crawford.

Performances will play Bayard Studio Theatre (98 Bayard Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn). Crawford chose the Bayard Studio Theatre because "it is a very unique experience," according to production notes. "When you come in there is live music, you get your own candle lit table…you can drink. It's reminiscent of a Parisian speakeasy…"

This production is not to be confused with Matthew Bourne's dance piece Edward Scissorhands.
