CAPTAIN AMERICA

DOMINIC COOPER

The casting announcements keep coming for The First Avenger: Captain America. And now? Dominic Cooper is playing Tony Stark’s dad…

It has been confirmed that Tommy Lee Jones is, indeed, joining the cast of Marvel's upcoming The First Avenger: Captain America, adding to a cast that already includes Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving and Stanley Tucci.

The latest addition to the production is Dominic Cooper, who has signed on to play the younger version of Howard Stark. We've seen the character of Stark on-screen already this year in Iron Man 2, when the role was taken by John Slattery. Given that the film is going to be looking towards the younger days of Marvel's universe, it's not surprising that the role has been recast again with a younger actor.

The shoot for the film takes place in the UK this summer, under the guidance of director Joe Johnston, and will be in cinemas in July 2011.

  1. Captain America, is one of those super-heroes that most are not familiar with. The only reference to him I was aware of, was when they did the animated X-men series, there was an episode that dealt with Captain America.

This could be a tough sell in todays world. Will be interesting to see if this movie has a following.
