MOVIE TRIVIA … CLEVER CAMEOS

MOVIE TRIVIA …

CLEVER CAMEOS

One of Alfred Hitchcock’s trademarks as a director was the cameo performance he made in each of his movies from The Lodger (1927) onwards.

He appeared as a passerby, missing a bus, wearing a cowboy hat, winding a clock or struggling to carry a cumbersome double bass.

Even in Lifeboat (1944), which is set entirely within the confined of tiny craft, features Hitchcock – who had recently lost a considerable amount of weight – in the ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos of an advertisement for ’Reduco Obesity Slayer’, visible on the newspaper being read by one of the boat’s passenger.
