SOLOMON AND SHEBA
Filming of King Vidor’s biblical epic Solomon and Sheba (1959) had a major set back when the star, Tyronne Power, collapsed and died of a heart attack.
Although more than half of Power’s scenes had been completed, Vidor had for some reason started with the actor’s long shots and left most of his close ups to last.
It was impossible to complete the film without replacing him and starting again.
Yul Brynner took over the role, although some footage of Power – seen at a distance – remained in the final cut.
