Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy
Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy were first introduced in 1942 on the set of Woman of the Year—and later became one of Hollywood's most iconic couples of all time, despite the fact that they refused to publicly recognize their relationship. The 20th-century all-stars appeared in a whopping nine films together—Keeper of the Flame, Without Love, The Sea of Grass, State of the Union, and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner among them. Hepburn and Tracy often had difficulties with their high-profile relationship, particularly considering the fact that he refused to divorce his wife Louise Treadwell, whom he remained married to until his death in 1967. "At lunchtime they'd just meet and sit on a bench on the lot," Gene Kelly once recalled of Tracy and Hepburn, according to People magazine. "They'd hold hands and talk—and everybody left them alone in their little private world." They spent the majority of their quarter century together sneaking in back entrances and maintaining separate homes in order to keep up appearances. But despite the secrecy, their love remained. "I loved Spencer Tracy," the actress wrote in her 1991 autobiography, Me. "I would have done anything for him."
John Travolta and Kelly Preston
Although many never even saw The Experts—a 1989 film that was barely released in theaters and went quite quickly to home video—it's one movie John Travolta and Kelly Preston will never forget. As Travis, a Nebraskan kidnapped by a KGB spy and brought back to the USSR with his friend to teach the KGB agents how to be cool, Travolta was introduced to one particularly eye-catching agent, Bonnie (played by Preston). In the film, Bonnie's assigned to keep an eye on Travis and does a scandalous dance at a nightclub that ends in a spanking for her future husband. The two, who have since acted alongside each other in Battlefield Earth and Old Dogs, married in 1991 after Kirstie Alley convinced them to give their relationship a try. "Why don't you two get together," she reportedly told Travolta at a party, according to People magazine. Though he initially laughed the idea off, the two met up again in 1990 while filming in Vancouver after Preston divorced Charlie Sheen. "He asked if I was over Charlie," Preston recollected. After she said yes, the two went to dinner, then out dancing, then for a midnight stroll through the Canadian metropolis… and the rest, as they say, is history.
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson
As any Twi-hard knows, the stars of the on-screen re-creation of the popular vampire book series, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, met on the set of Twilight and then starred in Eclipse and New Moon together. At some point during the franchise's shoots, they started dating, but the timeline remains hazy since the two still have yet to formally confirm their romance. In December 2009, Pattinson and Stewart were allegedly seen looking for a Los Angeles apartment together. As one of their friends told In Touch Weekly at the time, "They're not ready for a huge commitment, but right now the best thing to do seems to be to find a home with a lot of privacy and security where they can find out how compatible they really are." The relationship between Pattinson and Stewart (also known as R. Pattz and K. Stew) remained shrouded in mystery until this summer when a paparazzi-captured PDA session left little to the imagination. "I've been chasing Twilight for the last year-and-a-half," the photographer told Celebuzz.com. "I've been waiting for this shot for a long time." And he's not the only one.
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck
Known for high-profile romances with Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck met the woman who would become his most important love interest—Jennifer Garner—on the set of Pearl Harbor in 2001. At the time, however, Garner was married to Felicity star Scott Foley, as she was when she and Affleck reconnected in 2003 for Daredevil. But, lucky for Affleck, Garner divorced the following year and won her over with his words. "It helped that we were both single at the time. He's a very good writer," the actress told Parade of how he won her heart with modern day love letters. "Email. He's a very persuasive writer." Just nine months into their relationship, with a baby on the way, Affleck proposed. The now-married and very hands-on parents, Garner and Affleck have two daughters, Violet and Seraphina, but still make time for romance. "You steal the time. You steal a date, you steal a kiss, you steal a whisper. You sit next to each other on the couch with computers on your laps," she told the magazine. "After the kids are asleep you... well, you know."
Blake Lively and Penn Badgley
Penn Badgley and Blake Lively play on-again-off-again couple Dan Humphrey and Serena van der Woodsen on the hit CW drama-filled series Gossip Girl. Though the young actors had known each other nearly a decade prior to their co-starring gig, sparks between their fictional characters soon infiltrated their realities in 2007. "Having a relationship with someone you work with might not always be the smartest move," Badgley admitted to Men's Health. "But, it's been wonderful to be in a relationship where we can both identify with what the other is experiencing." Their TV mom/stepmom Kelly Rutherford echoed Badgley's sentiment. "To be able to go through this ride and success and to have somebody to do that with and share that experience, I think they're both very fortunate," she told People magazine. "They're both so together and whatever happens is their business, and I think they're both darling and very together as people."
Courteney Cox and David Arquette
The set of Wes Craven's 1996 horror flick Scream may seem an unlikely place for two actors to find true love, but that's exactly what happened in the case of David Arquette and Courteney Cox. Three years after their life-changing scary movie experience, on June 12, 1999, the couple tied the knot. And since their initial blood-curdling film fest, the couple's on-screen appearances haven't stopped. Arquette guest starred on an episode of Cox's hit show Friends (as a stalker) and the two have also appeared in a slew of films together—Scream 2, Scream 3, The Tripper (which Arquette wrote and directed), The Shrink Is In, and 3000 Miles to Graceland. Soon enough, there will be another co-appearance to add to their résumés: Scream 4 set for release in 2011. "I met my wife on the first [film] and now we have a kid [6-year-old daughter Coco] and it's just been a real trip," Arquette told People magazine of filming the fourth installment. "It's just kind of going back to where it all started."
Evangeline Lilly and Dominic Monaghan
If they were stranded on a deserted island, former Lost cast members Evangeline Lilly and Dominic Monaghan would likely be able to get by. The co-stars met in 2004 on the set of the hit television series and announced their engagement three years later. Though their relationship turned tumultuous and a breakup shortly followed, it didn't stop Lilly and Monaghan from getting back together. The two officially rekindled their relationship in 2008. "They've been through breakups and makeups and feel that their love has stood the test of time," an insider told The National Enquirer at the time. Another source told the gossip publication, “Lost certainly has been very good for Evie’s love life.”
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett
Now this is a story all about how Will Smith's life got flipped and turned upside down. When Jada Pinkett auditioned for the role of Lisa Wilkes, Smith's character's girlfriend on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 1995, she didn't win the part—producers thought she was too tiny for the six-foot-two Hollywood star and the role instead went to Nia Long. But height differences aside, Smith and Pinkett kept in touch, and when his marriage to model Sheree Zampino ended later that year, the two began dating. The couple lived together for two years before their surprise wedding ceremony in her hometown of Baltimore on New Year's Eve in 1997. More than a decade and two children (Karate Kid star Jaden and daughter Willow) later, the two are still seemingly determined to keep the fire alive, particularly for the actress who continues to put family first. "I will throw my career away before I let it break up our marriage," Pinkett told USA Weekend. "I'd throw it away completely."
Sienna Miller and Jude Law
After meeting on the set of Alfie in 2003, two terribly attractive British actors—Jude Law and Sienna Miller—engaged in a hot and heavy romance, much to the delight of the feverish paparazzi. The two became engaged on Christmas Day 2004, but it was short-lived. In July 2005, Law publicly apologized to Miller for having an affair with his children's nanny, Daisy Wright. "I just want to say I am deeply ashamed and upset that I've hurt Sienna and the people most close to us," said Law in a statement. Miller stuck by him until November 2006, when the couple announced their rollercoaster ride of a relationship had come to an end. Though a short marriage and scandalous illegitimate love child followed over the next four years, Law and Miller have since officially reconciled (once again), making their first public appearance as a couple at the Met Gala in May. According to rumors, the couple has allegedly even tied the knot at a traditional "Baci" wedding ceremony in Laos while on holiday, wearing red-and-white thread bracelets to symbolize their union, The Daily Mail reported. "I'm very happy," Law recently (and evasively) told Access Hollywood. "I'm very happy to be happy."
Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron
Though Hollywood couples have a notoriously short shelf life, it's been five years since teen idols Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens met on the set of Disney's smash hit High School Musical and they're still going strong. "Right off the bat, we had a connection," Hudgens told Glamour. "I think everybody could see it." She added: "When we had our audition, they paired us together and he was adorable." The two are often pictured cuddling up courtside at L.A. Lakers games or taking in Broadway musicals, but have had their fair share of bad press. In a recent interview for the September issue of Details magazine—in which Efron graces the cover—he was asked if his relationship with Hudgens was merely a pairing orchestrated by Disney to cover up his alleged homosexuality. "That's just fucking insane," he replied. "Right now [the gossip industry knows] exactly what's going on and it's not very interesting and there's no money to be made on it. It's exactly how it should be. It's real." Efron and Hudgens starred opposite each other in again in High School Musical 2 and High School Musical 3, and now, two years later, their relationship has outlasted the successful Disney franchise.
Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart
"We had it all, just like Bogie and Bacall," croons Bertie Higgins in the 1981 pop hit "Key Largo." One of Hollywood's all-time storybook romances, Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall met on the set of the 1944 film, To Have and Have Not. Bogart, who was in the process of divorcing his third wife, was smitten from the start. "I just saw your [screen] test," the actor told the actress prior to filming, according to People magazine. "We'll have a lot of fun together." Bacall, however, who was 19 to Bogart's 44, reportedly screamed "Yuck!" when she found out the older man would be her co-star. But three weeks into filming, he stopped by Bacall's dressing room, and sparks flew. "He was standing behind me—we were joking as usual—when suddenly he leaned over, put his hand under my chin and kissed me," Bacall told People magazine. For the next year, the two engaged in a secret relationship, and when Bogart's divorce was finalized in 1945, the two married. The couple would go on to co-star in The Big Sleep, Dark Passage, Key Largo, and a cameo appearance as the happy couple in Two Guys From Milwaukee. They had two children and were happily married until Bogart's battle with cancer tragically ended in 1957. "She's a real Joe. You'll fall in love with her like everyone else," Bogart famously said of his wife of 12 years.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt
Hollywood's current golden couple, best known by their portmanteau "Brangelina," met in 2004 while filming the action flick Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Initially, their union was cause for scandal—Pitt was still married to Friends star Jennifer Aniston when the cameras began rolling and the media immediately cast Jolie as the man-eater who ruined their marriage. Though they've often publicly denied it, Jolie spilled the beans in a 2008 interview with The New York Times. When discussing her children one day seeing Mr. & Mrs. Smith, she said, "Not a lot of people get to see a movie where their parents fell in love." Pitt's divorce from Aniston was finalized in October 2005 and just three months later, Jolie confirmed her relationship with Pitt for the first time in public, announcing to People magazine that she was pregnant with his child. The stunning baby girl would be named Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, joining Maddox and Zahara, adopted from Cambodia and Ethiopia, respectively. They would later add to their ever-expanding clan, adopting Pax from Vietnam in 2007, and giving birth to twins—a boy, Knox Léon, and a girl, Vivienne Marcheline—on July 12, 2008. But they are not strolling down the aisle just yet. Pitt told Esquire the couple would consider tying the knot "when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able."
Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer
With all the steamy sex and bloodlust in True Blood's fictional town of Bon Temps, it's no surprise that two of the stars from the vampire-centric HBO show hooked up. Telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and her Civil War-era vampire lover, Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) hit it off from the get go. The pair, who share an endless array of hot sex scenes on the show—and recently posed for a raunchy Rolling Stone cover—realized they were meant to be after shooting wrapped on True Blood's premiere season in 2008. "During the show's first season, I had to go back to London and she went back to New York," Moyer told Playboy.com. "I wish I had bought shares in Skype, because we Skyped every night for three or four hours. It felt as though part of me had been removed when Anna and I were apart." Moyer and Paquin then began dating in February 2009, announced their engagement in August of that year, and made it official in August with an evening wedding in Malibu. And if you think they're simulating those on-screen sex scenes, think again. "I think that one great bonus is that we don't need a fluffer," Moyer told Entertainment Weekly.
Lauren Graham and Peter Krause
Talk about a match made in TV heaven. Lauren Graham recently revealed she is dating her Parenthood co-star Peter Krause, and says that their relationship is “so easy.” The acting powerhouses met 15 years ago but never hooked up because of bad timing—and because he invited her over for board games, a decidedly unsexy activity. The former Gilmore Girls star usually keeps her private life under wraps, but has this to say about the Six Feet Under actor: “He’s obviously a very confident, appealing guy, but he’s shy, and so am I.” “I’ve also been really protective of [our relationship],” she said, “because it’s important that you can buy us as brother and sister on the show.”
