GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL CANCELLED FOR 2012

GLASTONBURY

Britain's legendary Glastonbury festival has been cancelled in 2012 to stop the music event clashing with the Olympic Games, which will be held in London that summer. The famous event will continue as usual next year, with acts including U2, The Rolling Stones and Prince rumoured to be heading the bill.

But organizer Michael Eavis has revealed there will be no Glastonbury in 2012 as it will be too "expensive" to stage the festival at the same time as the Olympics. He tells The Guardian, "I can see it getting very expensive. So we looked at the timing and thought that a year off seemed sensible."

Glastonbury will return in 2013.
