According to the NY Times, there is a chance that the Colin Firth film, 'The King's Speech' might make an appearance on a Broadway or West End stage, depending on how well the movie does this awards season.

According to the article, Michael Alden said in an interview on Tuesday that he was developing a stage production of "The King's Speech" after acquiring the rights to the work, about the real-life relationship between King George VI of Britain - the World War II monarch and current queen's father - and a speech therapist named Lionel Logue, who helped him overcome a stammer."

Alden said of the project, "If Barbra Streisand wants to play Queen Elizabeth," he said, referring to George VI's wife, "we'll go to Broadway in the spring, but otherwise I don't see a rush. A lot of it will depend on what happens with the film, but what I know right now is that it's a brilliantly written and entertaining story about not only a family - in this case a royal family - but also two men whose connection really comes to life in the play script.
