In the latter part of her life, Marie Curie had various medical problems, probably as a result of her work with radio-active material. In 1934 she died of aplastic anaemia , a disease of the blood linked with radiation exposure and she was buried next to her husband.
In honour of the couple’s dedication to science, their remains were transferred to the Pantheon in Paris in 1995.
