britannia awards 4 051110

Beloved TV veteran Betty White has an odd new accolade to add to her list of achievements - she's been made an honorary forest ranger by U.S. officials. The former "Golden Girls" star, 88, wanted to enter the profession as a young girl but her hopes were dashed when she learned women were then banned from the job.

However, she can now live out her childhood dreams after bosses at the U.S. Forest Service bestowed her with the special honour on Tuesday, November 9. The Forest Service's work force is now made up of 38 per cent women.
