IT’S NOW … NOVEMBER

November is the eleventh month of the Gregorian calendar. In the northern hemisphere it is the last month of Autumn and celebrations connected with the harvest season take place. In the southern hemisphere, the last mild spring weather is enjoyed before the summer heat begins, but many traditional festivals transferred from the north are celebrated there as well.

The chrysanthemum is one of the few flowers that still bloom in the Northern hemisphere Autumn, so not surprisingly it is November’s birth flower. Chrysanthemums were first cultivated I China and were taken to Europe in the seventeenth century. They are usually associated with compassion, friendship and cheerfulness.
