David Livingstone (1813 - 1873) was the first European to see the mighty Victoria Fall on the Zambesi River. He spent the last years of his life suffering extreme hardships and disease in an unsuccessful attempt to find the “true” source of the Nile which he believed lay beyond Lake Victoria.
