TRIVIA BITS … DIAMONDS

 

The word ‘diamond’ comes from the Greek ‘adamas’ which means unconquerable. The word ‘adamant’ meaning resolute and immovable has the same root. One of the many beliefs surrounding diamonds is that it confers invincibility. Medieval knights wore diamonds to protect them. The hilt of Napoleon Bonaparte’s sword bore a large diamond.
