TRIVIA BITS ... GEORGE ORWELL

 

The decline of English society is a regular theme ion George Orwell’s novels. Two of the most famous are A Clergyman’s Daughter (1935) and Keep the Aspidistra Flying (1936). An aspidistra is a type of potted plant regarded in the novel as an indication of social respectability.
