Glee's executive producer Ryan Murphy has revealed that he would like Gwyneth Paltrow to return next season.

Paltrow, who plays substitute teacher Holly Holliday, has appeared in two episodes so far and is expected to reprise the role again before the second season comes to a close.

Speaking to TV Line, Murphy explained that he also wants her "to come back next year".

"Gwyneth is sort of the muse of the show," he said. "I'm friendly with her. And [fellow executive producer] Brad [Falchuk] has become quite friendly with her."

Murphy added: "She's also somebody who I write [to] on the weekends and say, 'What do you think about this for an episode even if you're not in it?' She has opinions. She's great."

Murphy also revealed that Kristin Chenoweth will reprise her role as April Rhodes before the end of the second season.
