The first host of NBC's "Midnight Special," which debuted on August 19, 1972, was John Denver.

John Denver's father, Henry Deutschendorf, Sr., broke a world's speed record in a B-58 Hustler bomber aircraft during 1961.

John Denver once sang with The Chad Mitchell Trio, replacing Chad Mitchell. After Denver joined, the group sang under the name of Mitchell Trio. Folksinger John Denver was almost signed to play Billy Shears in the 1978 movie Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. lnstead, Peter Frampton was chosen for the role.

John Denver wrote the song For Bobbie, which appears on Dion and The Belmonts' Together Again album, under his real name of Henry J. Deutschendorf. John Denver had only one hit record in the United Kingdom, and that was with Annie's Song (RCA APBO-0295), which went to number-one in 1975.
