REMINISCING .... BARRY MANILOW

Barry Manilow was once employed as a page boy at CBS Television. Prior to becoming a solo artist, Barry was Bette Midler's arranger. Manilow is one of only three living artists ever to have five albums on the Billboard charts simultaneously (1977). Frank Sinatra and Johnny Mathis are the others.

Barry Manilow has written the jingles for commercials for State Farm Insurance and Band Aids. He wrote and sang for Strider and Chevrolet.In addition, Barry sang for Kentucky Fried Chicken, Dr. Pepper, Pepsi-Cola, Jack-in-The-Box, and McDonalds.

Barry Manilow's first 17 U.S. singles all made the Top 40.

It wasn't until 1979 that Barry Manilow received his first driver's licence.

Barry Manilow's female back-up group Lady Flash had a hit of their own in 1976 with Street Singin' (RSO 852).
