On the 1950’s hits of Bill Haley and His Comets, Shake Rattle And Roll (Decca 9-29204) and Rock Around The Clock (Decca 9-29124), the music was described on the labels as Fox Trot. In comparison, Frankie Lyman and The Teenagers' 1955 recording of Why Do Fools Fall in Love (Gee 1OO2) was listed on the label as a Vocal Jump.

Bill Haley and His Comets were originally a country/western group, first recording under the name of Bill Haley and The Four Aces of western swing, and then later as Bill Haley and The Saddlemen.
Fran Beecher, guitarist with the Comets, was a former member of Benny Goodman's Sextet.
