2012 THE 60TH YEAR OF “THE MOUSETRAP”

the-mousetrap-01141For over 50 years, Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap has been the world’s longest running stage production. Today the record-breaking production will enter its 60th year in London’s West End, and on 25 November 2012 will celebrate the actual 60th Birthday with a gala in aid of Mousetrap Theatre Projects.

The Mousetrap will begin its first ever UK tour opening in September 2012. The tour is planned to run for 60 weeks. All-star casting to be announced. Each star performer will tour for 12 weeks.

To mark the 60th year, Mousetrap Productions has licensed 60 productions of The Mousetrap world-wide. During this period the world’s longest running show will be seen in every continent, with professional productions scheduled for Australia, China, Korea, Turkey, South Africa, Russia, Czech Republic, Hungary, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Poland, Spain, Scandinavia, Venezuela, and across the United States and Canada.

As part of the 60th year of The Mousetrap, Mousetrap Theatre Projects will run an educational writing project for Year 6 pupils at 60 primary schools across London. Pupils will be encouraged to write their own short mystery. The best stories or plays will be read by professional actors on the set of The Mousetrap at the St. Martin’s Theatre. Thousands of year 6 pupils will attend matinee performances of The Mousetrap as part of the project.

For its 60th year The Mousetrap at the St. Martin's Theatre is to introduce a small charity fee of 60p on each ticket, in addition to the regular ticket price, which will be applied entirely for the benefit of charities working with young people and the arts, including Mousetrap Theatre Projects.
