As we approach the festive season, it is inspiring to hear of the many ways that communities reach out to those who are less fortunate than themselves.

The annual Holiday Train has been a coast to coast tradition since 1999 and has now raised 5.6 million dollars and over 2.4 million pounds of food for community food banks and charities. All money and food donated stays in each community.

The goal of the Holiday Train is to collect food and money for local food banks and to raise awareness in the fight against hunger. At each event, the Holiday Train provides a box car stage, a line up of great musical talents and a corporate contribution to the local food bank. The community, in turn, is encouraged to donate food and funds, all of which stays in the community.

Here is a link to the schedule as it continues its way across Canada, if you get a chance take some food donations listen to the entertainment and enjoy the festive season.
