Paul Revere and The Raiders actually began recording as an instrumental band with such songs as Beatnick Sticks (Gardenia 106) in 1960 and Like Long Hair (Gardenia 116) in 1961.
The group, the first major rock group to record for the Columbia Records label, previously had called themselves The Downbeats, The Paul Reveres, and The Nightriders.
Paul Revere and The Raiders have placed 24 songs on the U.S. Hot 100 charts but not a single one on the British charts.
