KING, STREEP, ROBERTS, BEACH BOYS AND ROYAL BARBIE DOLLS

 

 

larry-kingLarry King and CNN have officially parted ways, months after his "Larry King Live" wrapped up. The network has announced that the veteran host will no longer do specials, of which he previously agreed to make four times a year for CNN. "CNN and Larry King have mutually agreed to end the Larry King specials," said the network in a statement released on Wednesday, February 15. "We have the greatest respect for Larry and wish him the best of luck with his new endeavours."


meryl-streep-be-julia-robertsMeryl Streep will star as Julia Roberts' dysfunctional mother in an upcoming high-profile drama, "August: Osage County". The Weinstein Co. has confirmed that the two Oscar-winning actresses have signed on to the film which will be directed by John Wells. The movie is based on Tracy Letts' Pulitzer and Tony-winning play of the same title. It follows a family's buried pains and present conflicts after its patriarch dies. Streep would take the part of drug-addicted matriarch Violet Weston, while Roberts would play her eldest daughter Barbara, whose estranged husband has had an affair with one of his students.


the-beach-boysThe Beach Boys have announced a number of dates for their upcoming tour. In celebration of their 50th anniversary, the newly-reunited band are going to open the roadshow on April 24 in Tucson, Arizona. Coming back as a five-piece group, Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks will travel across North America including having a two-night stand at New York's Beacon Theatre on May 8 and 9. The Boys will wrap up the trek in mid-July in Stateline, NV. The band are currently in studio to work on their new album, which is set to come out sometime this year. They have re-recorded their 1968 classic "Do It Again" for the effort.

Toy giant Mattel announced on Wednesday, February 15 that the company will release a Ken and Barbie version of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in April in celebration of the royal couple's first wedding anniversary.  The limited edition of "William and Catherine Royal Wedding Giftset" has the couple's plastic replicas dressed in the garb they worn at Westminster Abbey. Kate's doll wears an ivory wedding gown with a lace torso and full skirt, and rocks an ivory veil, a sparkling tiara and matching drop earrings. Will's doll dons a replica of his scarlet Irish Guards colonel's uniform
