A lofty project in terms of both architecture and altitude, the Treehotel is a Swedish development. So far, the hotel consists of four rooms, each located in a separate building suspended in the canopy of the lush and pristine Boreal forest. The inital four units are the Cabin, the Blue Cone, the Nest and the Mirrorcube, each designed by a different architect to be completely unique. The owners of the hotel have plans for a total of 24 rooms designed by 24 architects within five years time. Two more rooms – the UFO and the Room With a View, were completed in October before darkness descends for the winter season.
The Treehotel, located in the forests of Harads, is offering guests an eerie stay from 3500 kronor ($540) a night.
The UFO room is perfect for those seeking a stay that's out of this world. Shaped like a flying saucer, it features porthole windows, separate levels and four beds.
Or if that doesn’t take your fancy there’s the "almost-invisible" Mirrorcube room.
Made of reflective “spyglass”, the room has gone up for sale at $377,000. A four metre high and four metre wide glass cube built around a tree trunk, it contains a double bed, kitchenette and bath, living room and roof terrace.
A special film visible only to birds has been applied to the glass in order to prevent birds colliding with the structure.
