'HOME ALONE' HOUSE SELLS FOR $1M LESS THAN ASKING PRICE!

HOME ALONE HOUSE09The house made famous in the 1990 smash hit Home Alone has been sold for nearly $1 million less than the asking price after being on the market for a year.

Nestled in the Chicago suburb of Winnetka, Illinois, the 4,243 square-foot home was listed last May with a $2.4 million price tag, but according to the Chicago Sun-Times, it sold on Thursday for just $1.585 million.

The brokerage said the sale closed last Thursday. The buyer was not immediately identified.

The Abendshiens hadn’t owned the home for long when the production company of the late North Shore resident John Hughes came looking to use it for the movie. They said they ceded most of the house to film crews for nearly six months and spent that time camped out in the master suite.

“Home Alone” was about a boy mistakenly left behind when his family goes away on vacation. The boy, played by Culkin, outwits inept burglars who try to rob the place.
