Long before Anne Hathaway donned the Catwoman suit, actress Julie Newmar became a star playing the same role on the 1960s Batman TV series. Newmar, the original Catwoman, recently expressed dissatisfaction over the tone Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy has taken.
Do you like the evolution of it?
Well, in a way no.
Why not?
It's dark. I think we had so much fun in the 60's, 1966 to 68, and then Vietnam came and everything got darker and darker and darker.
How does it feel to you playing Catwoman and realizing you were part in starting that.
It's nice to be immortal.
