“The Casual Vacancy” to be a TV Series

J.K. Rowling's first adult novel "The Casual Vacancy" is going to be adapted into the small screen. BBC announces that it has green lit a TV show based on the book which will air on BBC One as early as 2014. There is no word on number of episodes for the series.

Danny Cohen, BBC One controller says "J.K. Rowling's story-telling is of course peerless in its popularity, and I am looking forward to collaborating with her. This project highlights the ambition and scale of BBC One Drama, as well as the ability of modern television to attract the world's biggest talent and most exciting creative ideas."

Rowling states, "I'm thrilled that the BBC has commissioned 'The Casual Vacancy'." She continued, "I always felt that, if it were to be adapted, this novel was best suited to television and I think the BBC is the perfect home."
