25,000 Paper Bags Used To Redesign Store Interior

OWEN is an innovative mens' and womens' boutique located at 809 Washington Street in the Meat Packing District neighbourhood of New York City. The interior of the OWEN Boutique store is amazing. Created by an architecture firm called Tacklebox, they designed and hand-built the boutique’s surface from floor to ceiling with 25,000 brown paper bags to replicate a honeycomb-like structure.

Tacklebox reclaims common, ordinary, or overlooked materials and use them in an extraordinary way to foster a sense of timelessness. For those wondering, a consultant found a non-toxic flame retardant saturant (specific to paper) that was used to treat the entire installation in order to achieve a Class A fire rating.
