From Mythology …. The Three Sovereigns - China

  • The three sovereigns were Fuxi, Nuwa and Shennong.
  • Fuxi was the heavenly sovereign and Nuwa was his sister and wife.
  • They are often most illustrated with human heads and snake bodies.
  • Fuxi held a panel, a symbol of the earth, while Nuwa’s compass symbolized the heavens.
  • Shennong was the god of agriculture and also invented the plow and tea.
