Dunnellon, a town in Central Florida started as a phosphate mining town in 1889 and today has become home to nearly 2000 regular residents.  The growing town is small, has a big heart and a major attraction that residents enjoy year round, The Rainbow River.  Rainbow River is spring fed river that maintains a temperature of 72° year round, even in the winter.

The temperate waters have been home to prehistoric sharks and other animals as well as nourished native people for nearly 10,000 years.  Today, Rainbow River State Park is open to camping, swimming, snorkelling, canoeing, and kayaking.  Further down the river, tubers can float the length of the river and boaters can traverse the river at a safe speed. For more information on the Rainbow River and Rainbow Springs State Park visit their website – HERE.
