Atum
- The chief deity of Heliopolis was Atum who created himself from Nun – the primordial waters that existed before creation.
- Atum was the head of the Heliopolitan family of gods.
- The Ogdoad of Hermopolis was argued to be the oldest of the theogonies which are the accounts of the origin and genealogy of the gods..
- Thoth – the main god of Hermopolis - was symbolized as a baboon or an ibis.
