My first car was a Volkswagen. I remember fondly the green beetle. Ah, the Volkswagen - a symbol of all kinds of things. These vehicles have been around for quite some time. In other countries they are still the car of choice for most as they are seen all over the place in Brazil and Mexico. The Volkswagen Type 2 Microbus has had the longest production run. After a stellar 56 year run, production of the Volkswagen Type 2 Microbus will end this year.
The last model out before the end is the Volkswagen Kombi Last Edition van with only be 600 of these models available. New safety regulations change the game and require the van to be taken off production. The Kombi Last Edition will be sold in Brazil for $85,000 ($US35,500). This last edition will come with a numbered plaque showing its place amongst the last 600 and a certificate of authenticity from Volkswagen. There are a few adjustments in this vehicle including increased horsepower, a special blue & while vinyl interior to match the exterior, and a modernized sound system. This is definitely a worthy purchase as this vehicle has a permanent place in car history.
