  • The highest mountain in the US is Mt McKinley in Alaska with a summit elevation of 20,320 feet (6,194 m) above sea level.
  • The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia is the highest minister of the Crown, leader of the Cabinet and head of government, holding office on commission from the Governor-General of Australia. The office of Prime Minister is, in practice, the most powerful political office in Australia. Despite being at the apex of executive government in the country, the office is not mentioned in the Constitution of Australia specifically and exists through an unwritten political convention.
  • The classic book Moby Dick was written by an American writer Herman Melville and was first published in 1851.
  • The Slaughtered Lamb was the name of the pub featured in the movie An American Werewolf in London.
  • The 45rpm record was released by RCA for the first time on February 1, 1949 and was 7 inches in diameter with a large centre hole. The release was "Texarkana Baby" b/w "Bouquet of Roses" by Eddy Arnold.
