LOU RAWLS: LIVE! (1966) *REMASTERED*
Although Lou Rawls would go on to super stardom in the world of music, this fantastic set from early 1966 clearly showcased his ability to handle jazz and blues material, with a great rhythm section (all studio pros) that supported him all the way.
Lou not only could master a song with a great baritone voice, but he also could tell stories that weaved into the song - check out "Tobacco Road" and "World of Trouble.
January 6, 2006 was a very sad day for Lou's fans around the world because his great voice was silenced; however, we are very fortunate to have his music to enjoy for many years to come.

Brad Pitt Possibly to Star in “Pontius Pilate”
According to Deadline, Brad Pitt is considering starring in “Pontius Pilate,” a Biblical epic about the Roman prefect who infamously washed his hands of condemning Jesus Christ, and instead allowed the mob to make the decision for crucifixion. That’s how most of the gospels report it.
Vera Blasi wrote the script, which Warner Brothers is producing. Reportedly it details Pilates rise through the ranks of the Roman military, with his eye on the prize of a plum political job. Instead he gets sent to govern the province of Judea, which is a simmering mess of discontent with Roman rule and religious dissent. Mike Fleming at Deadline has read the script and he loves it.

- Why the professor on Gilligan's Island can make a radio out of coconut, but can't he fix a hole in a boat?
- If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?
- What do you call male ballerinas?
- If blind people can see their dreams? Do they dream??
- That if Wile E. Coyote from the Road Runner had enough money to buy all that ACME crap, why didn't he just buy dinner?
- If quizzes are quizzical, what are tests?
- If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, then what is baby oil made from?
- If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?
- Why the "Alphabet Song" and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" have the same tune?

Movie Review ... Moonrise Kingdom
Wes Anderson loves strange characters. Having directed ‘Rushmore’ and ‘The Life Aquatic’, he’s keen on portraying people’s quirkier sides. ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ is no different as a weird ensemble go about their lives. Perhaps this is a key to his success as his ability in making them seem real often enables for occasionally uncomfortable but often hilarious viewing.
Sam (Jared Gilman) and Suzy (Kara Hayward) are young kindred spirits having much in common. Meeting once a year during scout camp, they make a pact to run away together. When they do all hell breaks loose with local law enforcer Captain Sharp (Bruce Willis) on the hunt. Along with Scout Master Randy (Edward Norton) and Suzy’s father Walt (Bill Murray), Sharp determines to catch them. With some true eccentrics looking for them Sam and Suzy remain oblivious to the chaos they’ve created.
‘Moonrise Kingdom’s’ greatest appeal is its uniqueness. In a movie about accepting each other’s foibles this is very appropriate. That Anderson ensures we eagerly follow the rather odd personas is a testament to his skills. Like any good comedy it’s about something rather than being a silly chase-around. Issues of young love, complacency and loneliness are mixed in a beguiling and well filmed package.
With a great cast enjoying their roles it is easy going along for the ride as all effectively compliment each other. The production’s overall look has an almost other-worldly quality reflecting the skewed attitude of the young leads. The mid 60’s setting provides Anderson a licence for a fine musical soundtrack successfully conveying the adolescent’s various emotions.
Graced with a very individual style ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ is a breath of fresh air. Amongst a cinema landscape filled with formulaic banality this stands out as a beacon of hope that creativity continues to prosper and can be found if one looks for it.

Portrait of a Friend
I can't give solutions to all of life's problems, doubts, or fears. But I can listen to you, and together we will search for answers.
I can't change your past with all its heartache and pain, nor the future with its untold stories. But I can be there now when you need me to care.
I can't keep your feet from stumbling. I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not fall.
Your joys, triumphs, successes, and happiness are not mine; Yet I can share in your laughter.
Your decisions in life are not mine to make, nor to judge; I can only support you, encourage you,
and help you when you ask.
I can't prevent you from falling away from friendship, from your values, from me.
I can only pray for you, talk to you and wait for you.
I can't give you boundaries which I have determined for you, But I can give you the room to change, room to grow, room to be yourself.
I can't keep your heart from breaking and hurting, But I can cry with you and help you pick up the pieces and put them back in place.
I can't tell you who you are. I can only love you and be your friend.
