MARTIN SCORSESE
Martin Scorsese may have taken a while to start winning awards - he didn't actually land an Oscar till 2007 or a Golden Globe for Directing until 2003 - but he's making up for it now. At next year's Globes ceremony, he'll receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award for "outstanding contribution to the entertainment field".
He joins previous winners that include Steven Spielberg (2009), Warren Beatty (2007 - they skipped 2008 because of the Writers' Strike), Anthony Hopkins (2006) and Robin Williams (2005). While most winners have been actors, previous directors to win include Alfred Hitchcock (1972) and Walt Disney (1953).
The Award will be handed out at the Globes on January 17 2010 hosted this year by Ricky Gervais
