BIRTHDAYS: 1977 - Maggie Gyllenhaal - earned critical praise and popular recognition for her starring role in the oddball love story Secretary (2002, with James Spader). That same year she was suddenly everywhere, appearing in Adaptation (with Nicolas Cage), Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (directed by George Clooney) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003, with Julia Roberts and Kirsten Dunst). In 2008 she co-starred in the blockbuster Batman movie The Dark Knight, playing assistant district attorney Rachel Dawes.

Joe (1945), and The Day of the Locust (1975). He may be most widely recognized as the trainer in Rocky (1976) and its sequels and as the Penguin in the TV series Batman (1966–68).

The "Alice" adaptation (which begins filming in 2008) will be a combination of live-action and performance capture. Frankenweenie will be shot in stop-motion animation. 2006 – Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale and Michael Caine headline the cast for The Prestige which commenced screening in Australia. The Prince and the Pauper features Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck and other Disney characters in a variation of Mark Twain's classic story. 1989 - The Tony Award–winning 30th–anniversary Broadway revival of "Gypsy" opens at St James Theater NYC for 477 performances featuring Tyne Daly as Rose. 1987 - Paul McCartney releases "Once Upon a Long Ago" 1985- Whitney Houston debuts on UK chart with 'Saving All My Love for You' 1985 - Starship started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'We Built This City', it made No.12 in the UK. 1985 - Former Undertones singer Feargal Sharkey had his only UK No.1 single with the Maria McKee song 'A Good Heart' written about about her relationship with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers keyboard player Benmont Tench. Sharkey followed up the single with Tench written 'You Little Thief', this time about Tench's relationship with McKee.
