AMY WINEHOUSE’S HOME ROBBED

winehouse_IAUS74

Amy Winehouse's home has been robbed.

Following the "Rehab" hitmaker's death on July 23, copies of her unreleased tracks, lyric books and letters have gone missing from her property in Camden, north London -- which only 20 people, comprised of family, friends, security and police, have had access to -- and her management have also been unable to account for one of her favourite guitars.

The 27-year-old singer's father Mitch -- who is currently on a family holiday attempting to come to terms with his grief -- is said to be "livid" and has vowed to find the culprit.

An insider said: "This is such a sickening shock to the family. That someone would stoop so low. They can't get their heads around it.

"Mitch is livid. The family, record label and management are months away from deciding what to do with any unreleased music. For that to be taken out of their hands is horrible."

However, the 60-year-old former taxi driver is prepared to give the thief a chance to "do the right thing" and return the items before the police get involved in the matter.

The source added to The Sun newspaper: "Mitch is willing to give whoever has stolen the items a chance to do the right thing and put them back so it doesn't have to get messy."

WORLD TANGO CHAMPIONSHIPS IN ARGENTINA

Tango_I987YHB56

About 400 couples are competing in this year's World Tango Championships beginning next week in Argentina's capital, organisers say.

More than 500 artists also will participate in the festival that starts on Tuesday and runs through August 30.

But the main draw is the dancing, in the traditional "salon tango" category and the more creative "stage tango" competition. Each winning couple gets a prize of 20,000 pesos, which is about $A4,730.

Tango is taken seriously in Buenos Aires. The event is organised by the city's culture minister and is completely free to the public. Last year's event drew 350,000 spectators, and competitors come from many countries.

MORE FUNNY ANSWERING MACHINE MESSAGES...

SO YOU LIKE YELLOW CARS ...

modena_sports_car

The meaning of Yellow

Cheerful sunny yellow is an attention getter. While it is considered an optimistic colour, people lose their tempers more often in yellow rooms, and babies will cry more. It is the most difficult colour for the eye to take in, so it can be overpowering if overused. Yellow enhances concentration, hence its use for legal pads. It also speeds metabolism.

According to the DuPont Automotive Car Colour rankings –

If you like yellow cars then your main character traits will be:

  • Yellow Gold: Intelligent, warm, loves comfort and will pay for it
  • Sunshine Yellow: Sunny disposition, joyful and young at heart

ANDREW GARFIELD HEADING TO BROADWAY

Andrew_garfield_016tyars5432

"The Amazing Spider-Man" star Andrew Garfield is heading to Broadway next year in an all-star production of the acclaimed Arthur Miller play "Death of a Salesman."

According to Deadline, Oscar winner Mike Nichols will direct an impressive cast of thespians in a revival of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Philip Seymour Hoffman will play the beleaguered traveling salesman Willy Loman, Linda Edmond will play his wife, Linda, and Garfield will make his Broadway debut in the role of Loman's underachieving, conflicted son Bif. The production is expected to open in New York City next March at the Barrymore Theatre.

It's not so much surprising that Garfield is taking his talents to the Great White Way, only that he is choosing to do so now, as his movie career continues to heat up. Not only that, but the production will run in the normally promotional-heavy spring months leading up to the release of his expected blockbuster, "The Amazing Spider-Man."

And then of course there are plenty of puns and jokes to be made of the fact that two Spideys will be on Broadway — Garfield and Reeve Carney in the problem-plagued production "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark."

"A VERY HAROLD & KUMAR CHRISTMAS" …TRAILER

harold_kumar_christmas

Harold and Kumar are back in a first trailer of an upcoming holiday movie, "A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas". Coming out via Yahoo! Movies, the video opens with a humorous scene where John Cho's Harold Lee shoots down Santa's flying reindeer sleigh. "I shot Santa Claus in the face," he says in shock.

The video also features Neil Patrick Harris who plays himself in the film. In one of the scenes, he is seen holding a giant candy cane and wears an eye-catching red velvet suit among sexy dancers, while Harold and Kumar are dressing as red-cheeked tin soldiers.

In "A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas", the funny duo are estranged from one another with very different families, friends and lives, six years after escaping from Guantanemo Bay. Their troublesome adventure begins as Kumar Patel, played by Kal Penn, comes to Harold's house during the holiday season.

A-HA REUNITES FOR MEMORIAL CONCERT

A_HA__9A8SU

Norwegian pop stars A-Ha are reuniting to perform at a memorial concert honouring those killed in their homeland's recent massacres.

The country was plunged into mourning on July 22 when right-wing extremist Anders Behring Breivik killed 77 people with a car bomb in Oslo and a shooting rampage on the island of Utoya.

A-Ha known for hits like Take On Me split for a second time last year, but were approached to headline a special show at the Oslo Spectrum concert hall to remember the victims on August 21, which has been declared a national day of mourning.

Bandmates Morten Harket, Magne Furuholmen and Paul Waaktaar-Savoy are grateful to have been asked to play the one-off gig.

"On 22 July, we, like everyone else in Norway and the rest of the world, were shaken to the soul by these actions of cruelty and violent provocation against everything we stand for," a post on their website reads.

"We are grateful to be asked to participate in the memorial ceremony. We do this to honour those who have been torn away, to show appreciation to everyone who made an effort to help on July 22."

The memorial show will also feature other top Scandinavian acts.

A VERY MERRY BUBLE CHRISTMAS

CHRISTMAS_BUBLE

In a live video chat with fans this week, Buble revealed that he’s been recording a Christmas album and he’s already done a splashy duet with his fellow Canuck pop star.

“There’s a couple duets that I really like, one with Shania Twain, which is really fantastic,” Buble said in a video streamed from the historic Capitol Studios in Los Angeles.

“’White Christmas,’ we did. We did it bouncy. I was inspired by ’Home Alone,’ the Drifters.”

The Burnaby, B.C., native said that the record would be helmed by Canadian producers David Foster and Bob Rock.

And while he hasn’t finalized the track list yet, he says he’s also recorded “Jingle Bells” with the U.K. swing trio the Puppini Sisters, as well as versions of “Blue Christmas,” Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas is You” and an original track co-penned with musical director Alan Chang.

Though Buble didn’t indicate when the Christmas record would be released, his enthusiasm for the project was obvious.

“I wanted to make the quintessential Christmas record,” said the three-time Grammy winner. “I wanted to make a record that would outlive me, and I wanted to do for people what Bing Crosby did for me. He introduced me to the world of jazz and melody.

“And I didn’t want to be hip or edgy. I just wanted to make a really sweet Christmas record that kids can grow up with.”

At a different point in the chat, he was even more emphatic.

“I know this is going to sound weird but I think you guys can expect probably the best album I’ve made so far.”

Although the 35-year-old issued a Christmas EP in 2003 called “Let it Snow,” he dismissed that project now and said this was the holiday-themed record he had been waiting to make.

“I wanted to record this album from the start. The truth is, the only reason I didn’t do it is because I felt like I had to establish myself more as an artist before I gave myself the opportunity to put out a Christmas record,” he said.

“We did an EP years and years ago, it was six songs, but that wasn’t mine. I was just a kid, and I sort of just sang on it. And even the arrangements weren’t mine.... I didn’t have my imprint on it except for the voice.”

With that bit of business out of the way, Buble eagerly entertained wide-ranging questions from the 2,000-plus fans who tuned in to the chat.

The irreverent crooner held court on his wine of choice, whether he would ever head to Broadway (he’s been offered to do a “bunch of musicals,” he responded, but isn’t interested in staying in one place that long) and even how he would assemble his dream dinner party, including guests living or dead.

“I would have my wife, I’d have Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie, Claudia Schiffer and David Copperfield — because I think that David could trick them into doing it with me. Magic,” he said, smiling.

But the newlywed — who married Argentine actress Luisana Lopilato in the spring — got serious when asked about where he saw himself in five years.

“You know what, I want to have kids,” said Buble, clad in a black V-neck T-shirt and suit jacket.

“I’m pretty ready in my life and I think my wife is too. You know, that would be really cool for me. I know we’re talking about Christmas, so it’s kind of perfect, but I can’t wait for Christmas with kids.

“I can’t wait for Christmas, I can’t wait for Disneyland, I can’t wait for all those things. I can’t wait.”

MORE THINGS HUMANS SHOULD LEARN

  • Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.
  • Never lick a steak knife.
  • Take out the fortune before you eat the cookie.
  • The most powerful force in the universe is gossip.
  • You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time.
  • The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above average drivers.
  • The main accomplishment of almost all organized protests is to annoy people who are not in them.
  • A person who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person.
  • Your family and true friends love you, no matter what.

SO YOU LIKE GREEN CARS ...

Lamborghini_Murcielago_Green

The meaning of Green

Currently the most popular decorating colour, green symbolizes nature. It is the easiest colour on the eye and can improve vision. It is a calming, refreshing colour. People waiting to appear on TV sit in "green rooms" to relax. Hospitals often use green because it relaxes patients. Brides in the Middle Ages wore green to symbolize fertility. Dark green is masculine, conservative, and implies wealth. However, seamstresses often refuse to use green thread on the eve of a fashion show for fear it will bring bad luck.

‘I’M GONNA BE YOUR FRIEND” CAMPAIGN FOR SAVE THE CHILDREN FUND

campaign_for_africa_001272

A-list stars like Lady GaGa, Justin Bieber, Eminem and Madonna have joined hands to support Save the Children's "I'm Gonna Be Your Friend" campaign. Using their social media power, they aim to raise funds and awareness for the drought, medicine and food crisis in East Africa.

The campaign is kicked off on Tuesday, August 9 with the celebrities taking to their Twitter or Facebook pages to raise awareness. Britney Spears was among the early ones, tweeting "Just got @BobMarley's "High Tide or Low Tide" - proceeds go to children in #EastAfrica. U all can help #beafriend -Brit".

Bob Marley's tune was personally chosen by his family to accompany a Kevin Macdonald-directed short movie about the appalling condition in Africa. The singer's widow Rita said, "Not one child should be denied food nor water. Not one child should suffer. Along with Save the Children, we must stand up together as friends to put a stop to this, to feed our children and to save their lives."

The video would be sold digitally with all proceeds going to Save the Children. The celebrities will continue raising the awareness until they have an audience of 700 million.
