“I Love Paris” – Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald

Underground or above ground, the choice is yours at Coober Pedy’s Desert Cave Hotel!

The superb sandstone surroundings of Coober Pedy give you the opportunity to eat at outstanding restaurants, bring your business to the impressive convention facilities or shop in style for some of the world’s most impressive opals.

From the air the 250,000 mineshafts littering Coober Pedy and surrounds resemble a beach full of soldier crab holes. And like the crabs, many of the 3500 residents in the largest opal-mining centre in Australia live underground away from the scorching heat - and so can guests at the award-winning Desert Cave Hotel where 19 of the 50 rooms are beneath the surface.

  • God bless those pagans.
  • Don't let Krusty's death get you down, boy. People die all the time, just like that. Why, you could wake up dead tomorrow! Well, good night!
  • If you really want something in this life, you have to work for it. Now, quiet, they're about to announce the lottery numbers!
  • You couldn't fool your mother on the foolingest day of your life if you had an electrified fooling machine.
  • Go ahead and play the blues if it'll make you happy.
  • I'm a white male, age 18 to 49. Everyone listens to me, no matter how dumb my suggestions are.
  • With $10,000, we'd be millionaires! We could buy all kinds of useful things like... love!
  • All right, let's not panic. I'll make the money by selling one of my livers. I can get by with one.
  • Woo hoo! 350 dollars! Now I can buy 70 transcripts of Nightline!
  • Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything. 14% of people know that.
  • When I held that gun in my hand, I felt a surge of power - like God must feel when he's holding a gun.

the_prestige_hughHugh Jackman has scored another Broadway stint. The actor has sealed a deal to play the late escape master Harry Houdini in "Houdini" musical play, the producers of the show recently announced. The Australian actor has committed to starring in the play for the 2013-2014 Broadway season.

"I have been deeply fascinated by the life of Harry Houdini since I was young, and in many ways I've been preparing for this role my whole life," Jackman shared on being tapped to play the legendary escapologist. "I am thrilled to be collaborating with this collection of artists who are all at the top of their game."

The musical will see Tony-winning director Jack O'Brien ("Hairspray") as the helmer and veteran musical theatre lyricist/composer Stephen Schwartz as the composer. Oscar-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin is set to write the script for the play, which will mark his librettist debut.

Speaking on the details of "Houdini", Sorkin said, "Rather than being a biography, 'Houdini', told in a contemporary tone, tells the story of an epic battle that took place between the world's greatest illusionist and a trio of women, known as 'Spiritualists', who convinced millions of people, including the editors of Scientific American and The New York Times, that they could communicated with the dead.

The Diamonds

The Diamonds' 1957 hit Little Darlin' (Mercury 71060) was originally recorded by The Gladiolas (Excello 2701), who featured Maurice Williams as lead singer.

The Gladiolas

The Diamonds' version can be heard in the 1957 movie The Big Beal, in the 1973 movies American Graffiti and That'll Be The Day, in the 1976 film Slumber party ‘57, in the 1978 movie American Hot Wax, and the 1980 movie Hollywood Knights.

The Diamonds' version, which the group recorded as a novelty, actually did better on the rhythm-and-blues charts than did the Gladiolas’ original version.

An amazing chance encounter with a troop of wild mountain gorillas near Bwindi National Park, Uganda.

  • [Drunken voice] You have reached Bob's hotline. We are not able to respond due to uninevitable circumcisions. But if you leave your name and noomber, we won't be in wonder... pa-a-a-a!
  • [In a bored voice] Heaven, God speaking...
  • [in a computer generated voice] Hello, there are no real people here to answer the phone right now.
  • [in a computer generated voice] Leave your name, telephone number, and a brief message after you hear the beep, and we will keep track of this stuff until the real people get back.
  • [Lots of phone pick-up noise] Hi, I'm a burglar and I was just about to steal Troy's answering machine. If you give me your name and number, I'll... Uh, I'll post it on the fridge where he'll see it. Uh... By the way, where did you say you live?
  • [Loud heavy-metal music in background; raspy voice] Hello, this is the executioner. Joe can't come to the phone right now because he's DEAD! Leave a name and number and IF we decide to resurrect him, he'll call you back.
  • [Must have good Australian accent] G'day mate. Can't come to the phone now because I'm a bit tied up with this crocodile. Just leave a message, and I'll get back to you.
  • [Note the spelling in this one!] After the tone, please leave a massage—my shoulders really could use it, and... What? You're only supposed to leave a MESSAGE? Darn....
  • [Star Trek theme in the background] [Voice 1] Room 17, the final frontier. [Voice 2] These are the messages of Chad's answering machine. Its two-semester mission: To seek out your name and your telephone number. [Voice 3] To boldly inform you to wait for the tone.
  • [Very fast] Hi, this is 555-5555. If you want to leave a message, please wait for the tone. If you want to leave your name and number, please press pound, press 3, then dial your name, then press 6 and dial your number. If you want to leave your name and just a message, press star, press 6, ask for extension 4443, then leave your name and message. If you want to leave your number and the time you called, please press star twice, spin in a circle, press 1 twice, talk loud and BEEP.
