Though more a producer these days, Frank Marshall could be making a return to directing with Pajiba  reporting that he's being lined up to helm an adaptation of Robert Ludlum's "Covert One" novels.

Similar to Tom Clancy's Op-Center series, 'Covert' was created by the late author but actually penned by four other authors. The books follow a team of political and technical experts belonging to a top-secret U.S. Agency who fight corruption and conspiracy at the highest levels of society.

The first book in the 'Covert' series, "The Hades Factor", was adapted for TV in 2006 and starred Stephen Dorff and Mira Sorvino. Marshall's directing resume includes "Alive," "Congo," "Arachnophobia" and "Eight Below" but he also produced the hit Jason Bourne film series based on Ludlum's novel series.

The project would mark the seventh Ludlum-related film adaptation in development, joining the likes of a fourth 'Bourne' film (if it ever gets done), the remake of "The Osterman Weekend" and adaptations of "The Materese Circle," "The Parsifal Mosaic," "The Sigma Protocol" and "The Chancellor Manuscript".
