REMINISCING ... SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER

The album Saturday Night Fever, produced by The Bee Gees, is the best-selling soundtrack album of all time. When it became the best-selling album in the United States during 1978, the album it bumped was Rumours by Fleetwood Mac.

The 1978 movie Saturday Night Fever, starring John Travolta, produced a record four number-one hit songs: How Deep Is Your Love (RSO 882); Stayin' Alive (RSO 885); and Night Fever (RSO 859) by The Bee Gees; and If I Can't Have You by Yvonne Elliman (RSO 554).

Four previous number-one songs also appeared in the film: Disco Duck (RSO 557) by Rick Dees and His cast of ldiots, A Fifth of Beethoven (Private Stock 45073) by Walter Murphy and the Big Apple Band, You Should Be Dancing (RSO 853), and Jive Talkin'(RSO 510) by The Bee Gees.

That same year, "Grease ', also starring John Travolta, produced two number-one hit songs: You're The one That I Want (RSO 906) by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, and Grease (RSO 597) by Frankie Valli.
