Labrador Retrievers remain top dog in America and have been for the past 20 years.

The breed takes the number one spot on the American Kennel Club’s annual list of Most Popular Dogs in the U.S. For a second consecutive year the German Shepherd ranks second, marking its continued comeback as a breed.

Last year German Shepherds took the number two spot from the Yorkshire Terrier, and marked the first time in more than 30 years that Shepherds had been in the top two. Yorkies, who were bumped to third place last year, remain at number three. The fourth and fifth place breeds have swapped spots from last year.

Beagles are now the fourth most popular dog, and Golden Retrievers round out the top five.
