Rembrandt's full name is Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn

Rembrandt's wife Saskia died in 1642 Later his housekeeper Hendrickje Stoffels became his common-law wife and the model for many of his paintings

Rembrandt and Saskia bore four children, however only their last born son Titus survived into adulthood

It is estimated that Rembrandt painted up to 100 self-portraits, many of which were lost

Rembrandt died in poverty in 1669 and was buried in an unmarked grave in the Dutch town of Westerkerk
