IDRIS ELBA BACK FOR THOR 2

Idris ElbaIdris Elba has confirmed in an interview with Collider: that he will be reporting back to Asgard for duty on Thor 2 later this year. You know the deal: if your name's not down, you're not coming in... unless you've got a massive army of Frost Giants.

"I’m going to do Thor after I play Mandela [in Long Walk To Freedom]," Elba told Collider. Aside from snatching quote-of-the-week status - possibly forever - with that gem of CV-based awesomeness, Elba elaborated on where he'd like to see his character go in the sequel.

"I’d just like to get to know him a bit more," said the Londoner. "Who is Heimdall? He guards the gate. Is there anything else? I don’t know what's in the script because I haven’t read it yet, but the audience has responded to Asgard and wants to know more about who lives there and what it’s about. I’m sure, if they do that, Heimdall will be featured more."

The other films on Elba's packed slate this year are Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim and kidnap thriller No Good Deed. According to Marvel boss Kevin Feige, Thor 2 starts shooting in London in August, so expect him to be wrapped on Long Walk To Freedom by late summer.
