Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber are reuniting to pen new songs for the new stage version of The Wizard of Oz, which is currently booking to begin performances at the West End's London Palladium Feb. 7, prior to an official opening March 1, 2011.

Interviewed in Britain's Mail, Lloyd Webber said, "I'm working with Tim, for the first time in 34 years. He's doing the songs for The Wizard Of Oz with me. The new ones." In fact, Lloyd Webber has worked more recently than 34 years ago with Rice, most notably on an additional song for Alan Parker's 1996 film version of their 1978 musical Evita, "You Must Love Me," which won the 1997 Oscar for Best Music, Original Song. They also collaborated on Cricket, a short musical commissioned for Queen Elizabeth's 60th birthday that was performed at Windsor Castle in June 1986 for one performance only.

In addition to Evita, Rice and Lloyd Webber also collaborated on the unproduced The Likes of Us (unperformed until 2005), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Jesus Christ Superstar.
