GHOSTBUSTERS, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, TRANSFORMERS AND HARKER

ghostbusters-3Dan Aykroyd has given a few tidbits regarding his next big-screen project "Ghostbusters 3". In a chat with Empire, the Raymond Stantz depicter hints about recasting Peter Venkman with another actor since the original star, Bill Murray, is reluctant to reprise his role. "We have a deep, private personal relationship that transcends business," Aykroyd states. He also comments on Murray's reluctance to return to the third instalment of "Ghostbusters", saying, "We communicate frequently and his position on the involvement in 'Ghostbusters 3' has been made clear and I respect that."

guillermo-del-toro-emma-watsonGuillermo del Toro could direct Emma Watson in "Beauty and the Beast (2013)". The man behind "Pan's Labyrinth" has been on board to produce the new take on the fairytale since it was first developed, and now he is reported to tackle the helming duty as well. As for Watson, who is best known for her portrayal of Hermione Granger in "Harry Potter" film series, she has been attached to headline the period film. Details of her character and the movie's storyline, however, remain scarce.

transformersIn an interview with MTV News recently, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura confirmed that the next instalment of the "Transformers" movie series would be a reboot and Michael Bay, who helmed the three previous movies, would return to the directing seat. "Yeah Michael's gonna direct," Lorenzo spilled before revealing when the movie would likely to come out. "It'll be releasing in the summer of 2014." The producer furthermore gushed, "We're excited and I think the challenge there is we really are gonna do a reboot, and what that's gonna be we don't even know yet."

russell-crowe09iu7Interest in having Russell Crowe appear in nearly every production currently being readied in Hollywood continues, this time with Harker, a re-imagining of Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. According to Vulture, Warner Bros. is in talks with Crowe to play the title character of Jonathan Harker, who is now a Scotland Yard detective investigating a string of murders that should lead him to the nefarious Count. The project has been lingering around Warners for a while now, but with the studio's adaptation of Akira recently shut down over budget concerns, Harker has regained momentum. The report claims that the studio wants director Jaume Collet-Serra (Unknown, ABC's The River) to helm Harker first, and then address Akira's budgetary issues. While Crowe is in talks, his participation isn't confirmed.
