HARGITAY, PEARCE, SWIFT AND BANDERAS

 

 

Mariska HargitayMariska Hargitay has signed a new contract with Universal Television which produces her long-running show "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit". Under the new deal, she will return as Detective Olivia Benson if the show returns for a 14th season, and makes a reported $500,000 per episode. Though so, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that it does not necessarily mean the procedural series has secured a new season order. NBC is yet to announce the status of the drama series, which hit a series low (4.4 million viewers and a 1.5 rating in 18-49 demo) with its latest episode.


Guy Pearce 00fr543After landing a role as ambitious Peter Weyland in "Prometheus", Guy Pearce is one step closer to tackle another villainous character in "Iron Man 3". Variety has learned that the "Lockout" actor is finalizing a deal to star as geneticist Aldrich Killian in the upcoming armoured hero movie. In the Marvel comic books, Killian is described as a co-creator of the Extremis technology, which Iron Man adopts after Killian sells the technology to a terrorist. It has been speculated that Ben Kingsley is the one who will play the terrorist involved in spreading a virus through nanobots.

After taking part in the voice cast ensemble of "The Lorax", the country singer is currently circling the role of Joni Mitchell in an upcoming drama called "Girls Like Us". According to Variety, Swift has yet to receive a formal offer to play the veteran Canadian singer/songwriter. The movie itself will be based on Sheila Weller's book of the same title, which focuses on the music career of Mitchell as well as Carly Simon and Carole King.


ruby sparks posterAntonio Banderas's new movie "Ruby Sparks" has got its first trailer. It teases the story of a young geeky writer, Calvin, who creates an imaginative woman to inspire him. He thought everything went well since he no longer had to worry about having a writer's block, but his life turns up side down when the woman he creates in his mind comes to life. This romantic comedy comes from the director duo, Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, who are best known for their work in Oscar-winning movie "Little Miss Sunshine". Paul Dano tackles the lead role, while Zoe Kazan portrays the imaginative girl who mysteriously appears in flesh. Follow a completely-flabbergasted Calvin as he deals with the girl he thought never existed when the romcom is released in cinemas in the Australia starting 20 September.
