“PSYCHO” ORIGINAL SCORE ON SALE

ALFRED HITCHCOCK

The original score from Alfred Hitchcock classic "Psycho" has been put up for sale for $75,000. Norma Herrmann, widow of the film's composer Bernard Herrmann, is putting the 20-page manuscript on the market to raise funds to produce a DVD boxset of her late husband's work, according to Britain's Sunday Express.

"It's such a famous score and means a lot to me," she says. "It's the only thing I've kept of Bernard's work as a last souvenir."

The piece has been offered up for auction, but Herrmann is also in negotiations to sell it to the University of California.

"Psycho" is a psychological thriller film released on June 16, 1960. The film, which was directed by Alfred, tells about the encounter between a secretary, Marion Crane, hiding at a motel after stealing money from her employer, and the motel's disturbed owner and manager, Norman Bates, and the aftermath of their encounter.
