THE SKY IS THE LIMIT FOR AIRLINE FEES

In just the first three months of 2011, airlines took in $1.38 billion just from baggage and change-reservation fees.

Speculated possible future fees could include if the airline  was desperate for additional income.

  • Accurate departure gate info -- $5.
  • Guaranteed Gerard Depardieu-free aisle -- $5.
  • Having chatty neighbour moved to other seat -- $100.
  • Air sick bags -- $5 reserved in advance, $100 at moment of need.
  • Toilet paper $1 per square , or buy five get one free!
  • To use in-flight toilet facilities $5 per occasion
  • Extra drinks $20 per can/glass if delivered by cabin attendant after the first complimentary drink
  • $10 pair of earphones for music/radio only extra $15 for movie/TV viewing
  • $20 for baggage stowing by cabin attendant in overhead lockers
  • $5 each for hire of blanket, pillows
  • Web check-in free – check-in at airport extra $20 per boarding pass

In 2010, $5.7 Billion was collected  of which $3.4 Billion was from baggage fees. These fees are commonly associated with passengers who check bags or who have oversized bags.

Another $2.3 Billion in fees were collected from reservation changes. These changes included premium seat selection and flight changes.
