AN OSCAR FOR THE MUPPETS?

MUPPETS001

The Muppets have made their mark on the big screen, so why not take over the Oscars next? The original song in The Muppets movie, “Life’s a Happy Song,” is gaining Oscar buzz. The tune was written by Flight of the Conchords’ star, Bret McKenzie.

Stuff.com reported that McKenzie was the music supervisor on the film and wrote three of the original songs that are featured in the film.

McKenzie wrote "Life's a Happy Song," on his piano and then emailed a demo to director James Bobin. Bobin had been an old collaborator from the Flight of the Conchords' HBO television show.

MUPPETS002A few months later, “Life’s a Happy Song,” was being filmed for The Muppets on Hollywood Boulevard.

Many entertainment blogs have called the original song a for sure nominee for the Oscars this year. The movie itself has gained high praise in the United States and is doing very well at the box office.

Collider.com added that “Life’s a Happy Song,” has the best chance of getting nominated for best original song, but other songs featured in the movie have a chance as well, including, “Man or Muppet” or “Pictures in My Head.”

The Muppets might not be taking home best picture, but an Oscar is still an Oscar.
